Brisbane City
Brisbane is the third largest city of Australia, following Sydney and Melbourne, and is located in Queensland, Australia. Brisbane is the state capital of Queensland. For a long time, Brisbane was considered as a quiet country town, but in recent years, the city gradually became highly populous and life finally stirred in the city. As the city moves into the fore of modern society and adapts the modern lifestyle of the other surrounding Australian cities, people in Brisbane, both natives and visitors, will still feel the unquestionable air of good, old culture. Residents of the city appraise living in the city because they are offered all that they need to have a modern, cosmopolitan lifestyle but at the same time, they are afforded with a laid-back, peaceful, and easygoing attitude that provides a rest stop from the bustle of the big society. Unassuming and timid, the city flourishes quietly and have already been chosen as the hosts to the Commonwealth Games in 1982, the World Expo in 1988, and the Goodwill Games in 2001.

Brisbane History
Brisbane was formerly the home of the indigenous Australian tribe the Turrbal people who came from the area surrounding Torres Strait and in those days, the city was called by its literal shape. Mian-jin, the old name of the city, can be translated into "a place shaped as a spike." The modern name, Brisbane, on the other hand, was taken after the Governor of New South Wales back in 1821 to 1825, Sir Thomas Brisbane. It did not take long for the quiet country town to attract European settlers, the first of which formed a penal colony back in 1825. The centre of the colony is now known as the central business district of the city. In 1842, the population of the city rose until eventually, in 1859, the city was made the capital of Queensland when the state was declared as a separate colony. Since then, over the years, the city evolved into a modern city that nonetheless retained its old-fashioned air.
